True art is characterized by an irresistible urge in the creative artist.

I think it’s an area that one writes from that is curious because it is not a clearly defined partisan one.

I wrote two plotted books, got some of the fundamentals of storytelling down, then… it’s sort of like taking the training wheels off, trying to write a book that’s fun in the same way without relying on quite such mechanical or external beats.

No place is boring, if you’ve had a good night’s sleep and have a pocket full of unexposed film.

Ever since I began to compose, I have remained true to my starting principle: not to write a page because no matter what public, or what pretty girl wanted it to be thus or thus; but to write solely as I myself thought best, and as it gave me pleasure.

So it’s mix and match. Hold your line when you really feel something you’re saying is wonderful and you really want to get this point across and prove it to your partner by just throwing it into the tape and letting it speak for itself.

Logic will get you from A to B. Imagination will take you everywhere.
