Healthy citizens are the greatest asset any country can have.

No evil can happen to a good man, either in life or after death.

Memory, so complete and clear or so evasive, has to be ended, has to be put aside, as if one were leaving a chapel and bringing the prayer to an end in one’s head.

Death comes at you no matter what you do in this life, and to equate drugs with death is a facile comparison.

Widow. The word consumes itself.

But death’s acquisitive instincts will win.

Life’s but a walking shadow, a poor player, that struts and frets his hour upon the stage, and then is heard no more; it is a tale told by an idiot, full of sound and fury, signifying nothing.

It is impossible that anything so natural, so necessary, and so universal as death, should ever have been designed by providence as an evil to mankind.

It seems to me self-evident that if you have a life, things happen in it, and certain things do change; certain things end. People you know die.

It is not because other people are dead that our affection for them grows faint, it is because we ourselves are dying.
