Developing nations want to become developed nations.

Innovation is a good thing. The human condition – put aside bioterrorism and a few footnotes – is improving because of innovation.

But there’s so much kludge, so much terrible stuff, we are at the 1908 Hurley washing machine stage with the Internet. That’s where we are. We don’t get our hair caught in it, but that’s the level of primitiveness of where we are. We’re in 1908.

There has to be a global mission of human progress.

Measures must always in a progressive society be held superior to men, who are after all imperfect instruments, working for their fulfilment.

Let that which stood in front go behind, let that which was behind advance to the front, let bigots, fools, unclean persons, offer new propositions, let the old propositions be postponed.

I think a simple rule of business is, if you do the things that are easier first, then you can actually make a lot of progress.

What progress we are making. In the Middle Ages they would have burned me. Now they are content with burning my books.

The further forward we go, the further back we have to explore in order to go forward again.
